CSHA Appoints Katie Warner as New Executive Director

December 3, 2025 by Erin Storie

Katie Warner, M.A.

Care Share Health Alliance is pleased to announce the appointment of its next Executive Director, Katie Warner, M.A.

Warner – a North Carolina native – is a transformational public health and policy leader with over 17 years of experience advancing equity through advocacy, intergenerational collaboration, and systems change. She is recognized for redefining systems to create pathways where others see barriers. Throughout her career, she has built equitable communities through authentic partnerships and shared leadership, aligning diverse stakeholders around common goals to drive progress toward health, racial, and economic justice. Her leadership includes co-founding Youth Empowered Solutions (YES!), developing a nationally recognized youth–adult partnership model, and serving in senior roles at Community Catalyst and the Partnership for Southern Equity, where she embedded equity frameworks into policy, organizational practice, and cross-sector collaboration—all with integrity, compassion, and the strategic vision to turn bold ideas into sustainable change.

“The Care Share Board is delighted to welcome Katie as our new Executive Director,” says Care Share Board of Directors Chair, Alice Pollard. “Katie’s deep commitment to equity—reflected in her years of work in advocacy, non-profit leadership, and systems transformation—makes her an exceptional leader for this moment. We are excited for the future of Care Share and we look forward to the impact we will achieve together with our partners in advancing health equity.”

Warner was selected after an exhaustive search process which resulted in a talented pool of candidates, where she stood out because of her deep dedication to health equity and community voice. Care Share is grateful to the the Alexander Group, which carried out the executive search.

“I am honored to join Care Share Health Alliance as their next Executive Director.” Warner says, “At a time when marginalized communities are facing intensifying threats to their health, safety, and access to essential supports, our commitment to health equity calls for bold ideas, innovative strategies, and unwavering intentionality. I believe deeply in the power of communities to imagine and build a more just future, and I am committed to ensuring Care Share is a catalyst for that transformation. Together with our partners, we will galvanize collective strength, challenge systemic barriers, reimagine what equitable care can look like, and expand what is possible for the communities we serve. I am excited to help lead Care Share into a new chapter grounded in courage, creativity, and collective vision.”

Warner succeeds Care Share’s former Executive Director, Weyling White, who stepped down in 2024 after successfully leading the organization through its pivot toward deeper health equity work. Erin Storie skillfully served as the Interim Executive Director after White’s departure. Storie remains with Care Share and has transitioned to the role of Chief Operations Officer.

Care Share is a North Carolina based non-profit that supports communities and community-based organizations addressing the social drivers of health and advancing health equity.

Care Share Health Alliance is excited to welcome our new Director of Innovation and Capacity Building, Renee Harvey, MAHEd, CHES.

Harvey is a native of Washington, North Carolina. She holds an Associate in Applied Science-Medical Laboratory Technology from Beaufort Community College, as well as a  Bachelor of Science in Public Health Studies and a Master of Arts in Health Education from East Carolina University. Additionally, Harvey is a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES), and a North Carolina Rural Center Homegrown Leaders East Alum.

Harvey has a strong background in community health. She previously worked with the Health Assist Program as the Community Health Program Specialist where she assisted the uninsured population. Harvey also served as the Catalyst Coordinator for Healthy Eating and Active Living for Beaufort County with the North Carolina Public Health Foundation. Most recently, Harvey held the position of Community Health Improvement Manager for the Healthy Opportunities Pilot with Access East. The Healthy Opportunities Pilots (HOP) is the nation’s first comprehensive program to test and evaluate the impact of providing select evidence-based, non-medical interventions related to housing, food, transportation and interpersonal safety and toxic stress to high-needs Medicaid enrollees.

“We are thrilled to have Renee join our team here at Care Share Health Alliance,” says Executive Director, Weyling White, “Renee’s wealth of knowledge and passion for community is essential to our collaborative efforts, as we further expand our support of the NC Medicaid Healthy Opportunities Pilots. I look forward to our work together as we strive to improve health equity in the state.”

Harvey is passionate about supporting community based organizations’ capacity to address the social drivers of health and believes authentic community engagement is one of the keys in advancing health equity.

As Director of Innovation and Capacity Building, Harvey will guide all aspects of the NC Collaborative on Medicaid Transformation, including supporting the collaboration and alignment of interests and priorities between partners impacted by Medicaid Transformation and the continued shift towards value-based care across the state. Harvey will also lead Care Share’s work with the Healthy Opportunities Pilot to convene key partners to facilitate successful collaboration between different parts of the Pilot, as well as strengthen the capacity of Human Service Organizations for service delivery and community members’ well-being.

“Care Share is thrilled to continue to convene partners invested in strengthening health equity in North Carolina through Medicaid transformation and the Healthy Opportunities Pilots,” says Care Share Health Alliance Board Chair, Alice Pollard, “I am excited that Renee has joined the talented team at Care Share to lead this work.”
